The Isandla Esisizayo project is an initiative that allows Feed the Babies Fund to extend its reach beyond the crèches, pre-primary and day-care centres.
The focus of the Isandla Esisizayo project is the provision of items of comfort and joy to beneficiaries along with the provision of other foodstuffs, baby supplies, blankets, mattresses, clothes, toys and educational items. The beneficiaries of this project include not only our existing 300 crèches, but also a number of other organisations such as care centres, crisis centres, orphanages and individuals.
Our Adopt-A-Crèche campaign also falls under the control of the Isandla Esisizayo project which includes the renovation and maintenance of crèches. For more information on the Adopt-A-Crèche initiative please click on the link below.
Feed the Babies Fund receives many applications annually from orphanages, care centres, crises centres, home-based care centres, etc. requiring assistance with foodstuffs, medical supplies, blankets, clothing, and the like.
As with the qualification of our crèche beneficiaries, an on-site visit and thorough assessment of applicants is done, i.e. income and expenditure, level of assistance from other sources, etc. A detailed needs analysis is also undertaken. This information is then captured on a database and items are allocated to the organisations as and when they become available via donations. Beneficiaries are informed that regular support cannot be guaranteed as the provision of these items of need is based solely on availability through donations.
Further assistance is given to these beneficiaries by introducing them to other charities focussing on support that we cannot provide; e.g. Unlimited Child, Food and Trees for Africa, TREE, etc.
No direct monies are spent on this project and reliance is placed solely on ’in kind’ donations received as per our Wish List. However, from time to time separate fundraising initiatives may be put in place for this project, focussing on obtaining donations in kind.
